Kevin Hide Kevin originally hails from Widnes, old Lancashire. Having left after finishing school to study in Bristol, he now resides in Royal Leamington Spa, his home for the past 9 years. A late starter, Kevin did not pick up the bass guitar until he turned 18 years old, drawing influences from Flea, Ryan Martinie, Justin Chancellor and Les Claypool amongst many others. Barring two acoustic guitar lessons in primary school, which he did not continue as, in his words, “the thin strings hurt my fingers”, playing bass has always been his only interest. In a renewed drive to perform on stage following many years of various solo recording projects and session work, Kevin co-founded Power Metal outfit Barbikan in summer 2016. He has enjoyed local success with the band, playing high profile gigs such as the final of the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses competition in 2017 and main support slots at the O2 Academy, sharing the stage with Bloodstock alumni Incinery and the brilliant prog metallers Sümer amongst others. He remains active with the band and plans are set to release their debut E.P. later this year. Through his work with Damon Roots, Kevin has jumped on board with My Soliloquy in a performing capacity to bring his diverse influences to the prog table.
